About the Lake

Lake Roosevelt is a reservoir controlled by Grand Coulee Dam.  The Lake is drawn down in the early spring to make room for the water coming down from the mountains.  This means that the water level recedes significantly.  The docks aren't floating and swimming isn't possible.  Click here for a photo to give you an idea of the lake level when the water is down (April 5, 2005). (The "Midnight Reservoir Elevation" was 1253.00...full pool is approx. 1285.0.  See this link for day by day levels  or Lake Level current conditions and forecast.  The US Army Corp of Engineers controls the water level and traditionally the water level comes back up (to float the docks and allow for swimming, etc) by July 4.  In recent years (since 2004), the level was up to the docks by mid-June.  However, this varies from year to year.  Also, in the last few years (2004 - 2006), the Corp Of Engineers needed additional hydroelectric power (due to the hot summer, and drew down the Lake in early August making the docks unusable for about two weeks.  There are no guarantees (implied or otherwise) regarding the level of the water and usability of the dock and/or swimming beach.  Refunds will not be made due to circumstances, such as this, that are outside of our control.  We will, however, work with you to reschedule if space is available.
